Hands On Accompaniment for Collective Kitchens

The Regroupement des cuisines collectives du Québec (RCCQ) is committed to the expansion and strengthening of Quebec’s collective kitchen network. To achieve this objective, it promotes popular education and offers its members the Hands On Accompaniment program.

What is Hands On Accompaniment?

It’s a form of accompaniment based on the Food Autonomy vision, and the values set out in the RCCQ’s Basis of Unity. It was specially developed as a means for every member of an organization to learn how to become more autonomous, foster autonomy in others and empower themselves as citizens. It’s an exciting adventure that empowers participants to make positive changes in their own lives and have greater control over the decisions that affect them. It’s also a form of citizen “empowerment” that enables them to take action in their communities.

What Does Hands On Accompaniment Consist of?

Hands On accompaniment takes place over a six-month period and involves a minimum of four 2-hour meetings. The first meeting is designed to clearly identify the group’s needs.

As the sole purpose of the accompaniment is to support the group, it is tailored to the group’s interests and objectives. Accordingly, the accompaniment can take many different forms and lead to many different outcomes. The following are two examples of achievements realized following participation in the Hands On accompaniment program:

Each accompaniment situation is unique, because the realities of each group are different.

What is the Role of the Accompanier?

The accompanier’s role is to stimulate discussion and thought, and to provide support and tools relevant to the accompaniment situation. He or she organizes the meetings and creates the conditions needed to help the members of a collective kitchen become empowered to take action.

Who is it for?

The Hands On accompaniment program is offered exclusively to RCCQ members. It is available to any group of five to ten individuals (participants, employees, and board of director members) who are interested in taking part in a process aimed at gaining more self-awareness and knowledge for the purpose of achieving greater autonomy and empowerment through their collective kitchen experience.

Our Hands On accompaniment program is the perfect ingredient for adding a little “oomph” to your recipe for personal empowerment and citizen action!

What is the Cost of the Hands On Accompaniment Program?

For four 2-hour sessions: $225
For each additional 2-hour session: $50
